It is said that Julian Albans is a bully. When he gets home one afternoon, his grandmother Sara is there. She talks about her upbringing in France during the Nazi occupation, disturbed by his severe manner. At fifteen years old, Sara barely makes it out of her school when the Germans round up the Jewish students. Julien Beaumier, a classmate who suffers from polio and is frequently made fun of by others, helps her escape. While she waits for word of her parents' disappearance, he hides her in his family's barn. "White Bird" tells two stories that overlap. In one story, a Jewish teenager's experiences during Hitler's rise to power are examined. A number of situations are really dramatic, especially the one where the teachers try to protect their pupils from the Nazis. The intense traumas that teenagers in that era experienced are vividly illustrated by witnessing Sara's desperate attempt to escape a certain terrible fate. You can watch this movie on Myflixer.
